One satisfied customer! Dr. Gary Alter and Dr. Harrison Lee, the two plastic surgeons who treated Caitlyn Jenner, spoke about the star’s recent procedures in a new interview with the New York Daily News, and said she is thrilled with her transformed appearance.
“She’s extremely happy with the results, and we are too,” Alter told NYDN. The surgeon, who keeps offices in Beverly Hills and Manhattan, told the newspaper that he took care of “some body work,” working in conjunction with Dr. Lee’s facial feminization surgery.
“The surgery took all day,” he added. “We knew it would be a long procedure and everything was planned ahead of time, and we’re very fortunate that everything has gone very well… She healed fabulously. She was a very quick healer.”
Jenner, 65, famously debuted her gorgeous new look on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair earlier this month, introducing herself to the world as Caitlyn. The magazine was met with widespread celebration and acclaim.
“I thought she looked absolutely beautiful,” Alter said of Jenner’s VF cover, which was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. “She’s extremely pleased with her transition. She’s getting along with her life in the manner that she’s always dreamed.”
While the two doctors are proud of the successful surgery, Dr. Lee noted that it was an intimidating undertaking for him.
“I entered [the surgery] with some trepidation of course,” he told NYDN. “I figured it was gonna be very challenging because of her celebrity status and the fact that she’s going to finally expose herself for [who] she is, and it’ll be one of the most judged faces on the planet.”
Dr. Alter chimed in that being chosen for the procedure was “an honor” and went on to extol Jenner for her bravery and strength.
“This is a cultural milestone for transgender patients,” he said. “This enables other transgender patients to be better accepted and enables society to better understand what they go through… She has just been a tremendous asset for the transgender community, building better understanding of what transgender people go through psychologically, the difficulty of living with this secret – one of the ultimate secrets you can keep.”
