Cate Blanchett Gropes SAG Award Statue, Mocks Matthew McConaughey in Acceptance Speech

Cate Blanchett lets loose! Though the 2014 SAG Awards weren’t exactly the booze-filled comedy fest that the Golden Globes were, there were still plenty of standout moments. One happened toward the end of the night when Robert DeNiro presented Aussie actress Cate Blanchett, 44, with the Best Actress award for her role in Woody Allen‘s Blue Jasmine

“Bob DeNiro, I didn’t recognize you!” the frazzled star exclaimed.

And as she started her speech, things only got more comical. Blanchett began by poking fun at Dallas Buyers Club star Matthew McConaughey, who gave a lengthy acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor award for his role as Ron Woodroof.

“I’ve been away from the film industry for a long time making theatre, and — 29 seconds! Matthew McConaughey spoke about Neptune,” she interjected. “I think I can have five seconds!”

Cate Blanchett Screen Actors Guild Awards Speech
Cate Blanchett accepts the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role award for ‘Blue Jasmine’ onstage during the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 18, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

Appearing slightly nervous and overwhelmed, Blanchett then fondled her SAG Award statue’s exposed crotch, which garnered plenty of laughs.

“For those who voted for me, I thank you, and for those who didn’t, better luck next year!” she joked.

She ended the speech with a callout to her costar Sally Hawkins, and another reference to her well-endowed trophy.

“Sally, I am very lonely up here without you,” she said. “This is half yours…the penis part.”
