Throwing the fashion rule book out the door! Strolling through NYC’s Chelsea ‘hood on Tuesday, Aug. 4, Katie Holmes rocked quite the bold ensemble—complete with red, racer-striped, cheetah-print leggings. (Seriously—and from the woman who made Vogue‘s Best Dressed list the week before!)
The Dawson’s Creek alum, 36, paired the unmissable Adidas bottoms with a chambray button-up blouse, accented by rainbow stitching. Her accessories were no less eye-popping—check out those towering molten-tipped stiletto heels and that star-spangled backpack! It’s also worth noting that she wore the same pieces, but with subtler heather gray sweats during the day.

While the mom to Suri Cruise, 9, made some unforgettable sartorial choices, her glam was decidedly understated. The brunette beauty wore minimal makeup and simply slicked her hair back into a mid-height bun with a few tendrils slipping loose.
It was a huge change for the woman who stunned in Zac Posen separates just the week before. Visiting Good Morning America, Holmes stepped out in a metallic blouse, leather pants, and Christian Louboutin T-strap sandals, a combination that won her a spot on the fashion bible’s lineup.
