He's slicing up phreshness! Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk may have swept the Grammys Sunday night, but the music producer also got dissed and dismissed (well, sort of) by Arby's — yes, the fast food chain that's known for their beefy sandwiches and cowboy-hat logo. After all, the 40-year-old entertainer made quite the fashion statement with a certain hat he donned during the evening.
Williams took home Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Daft Punk for their smash hit "Get Lucky." But despite those victories, Williams' hat arguably stole the show. The now seven-time Grammy winner caused a social frenzy when he stepped out rocking a crazy, large brown fedora. He also sported another similar topper midway through the show.
"Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back? #GRAMMYs," the Arby's official site tweeted to Williams on Jan. 26. (The restaurant's logo is a large red hat.) The rapper, however, took it all in stride. "Y'all tryna start a roast beef?" he quipped back.
Even stars in the audience couldn't help but comment on the outlandish accessory. "Only Pharrell Williams can prevent forest fires," Neil Patrick Harris tweeted while inside the Staples Center auditorium.
Indeed, at one point there were two Smokey's on stage! Williams wore the Smokey the Bear-esque hat on stage next to Smokey Robinson while he accepted the award for Record of the Year.
