The ring is officially off. Paula Patton arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with a smile on her face — and her wedding ring noticeably missing.
Just two days after announcing she and husband Robin Thicke were separating, the 38-year-old Baggage Claim star appeared to be in good spirits as she made her way through LAX. Patton looked fashionable in a black leather and fur jacket and tight, high-waisted skinny jeans. She hid behind large sunglasses, but happily smiled at photographers.
The actress has been away on business, filming Warcraft in Vancouver, Canada. The Duncan Jones-directed action film is based on the popular video game, and also stars Ben Foster and Dominic Cooper.
On Monday, Feb. 24, Patton and her husband of eight years announced in a joint statement to Us Weekly that they have decided to separate. "We will always love each other and be best friends," the parents to son Julian, 3, said. "However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."
While Patton was away shooting Warcraft, Thicke, 36, was photographed spending time with their son with a trip to Disneyland on Sunday, Feb. 23. A source told Us that the "Blurred Lines" singer fought to make their relationship work. "Robin wanted to save their marriage, but it was Paula's choice and she ended it," the insider close to Thicke told Us. "Robin does not want this divorce."
"She is done with the marriage, but he was definitely fighting to stay together until the last moment," another insider added. "It is still cordial between them, but they are now figuring things out."
