Why wasn’t Dianna Agron in Glee‘s tribute episode for Cory Monteith? Well, it certainly wasn’t because she didn’t love her late costar. In a new interview with The Irish Independent, the 27-year-old former Glee actress spoke out against rumors regarding her absence from the emotional Oct. 10 episode honoring Monteith, who died in July at the age of 31.

“Bad news spreads faster than anything good,” Agron, whose new film, The Family, opens in Ireland Nov. 22, told the newspaper of Monteith’s death. “And I think it’s just such a shame, especially involving someone that we love so much, that the good old internet has taken everything that they want to say about it and spread it like wildfire.”

After Agron was noticeably missing from the “The Quarterback” episode, reports claimed that she had a falling out with other cast members and series creator Ryan Murphy. The actress played cheerleader Quinn Fabray (first girlfriend of Monteith’s character Finn Hudson) on the Fox musical series, and only made guest appearances after her character graduated in season three in 2012.

“So I’ve nothing but love for that show and everybody involved in it,” Agron explained to The Irish Independent. “It was such a huge part of my life, so I think it’s equally hard when I’m not there every day anymore. I don’t see all of them every day anymore to have things like this fly around. It’s more heartbreaking than it would be if I was there with everybody. It makes me feel even farther away from our show.”

The actress also added: “With those people it was the perfect mix of everything I needed to prepare me for everything else. We cut our teeth on that show, and it’s always going to be so special because of that.”

Though Agron made it clear she still loves he former costars, the Romantics star didn’t specifically address what kept her from appearing in the episode. Back in October, when Murphy was asked why Agron was absent, the Glee co-creator told reporters, “I think she was working. I don’t know.”
