Margaery Tyrell, is that you? Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer debuted a wild new 'do at the 2014 SAG Awards on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The gorgeous actress, 31, shocked fans with a startling new hairstyle: a half-shaven head paired with a French braid, channeling Jada Pinkett Smith's most recent, bold beauty move. With the left side of her head completely shaved, the daring star also revealed a funky, intricate, interlocked silver ear cuff that gave her look even more edge.

Wearing a form-fitting, sleeveless white gown accented by chain-metal inspired mesh sleeves from Marios Schwab's spring 2014 collection, the actress looked entirely different from her usual look as the future Queen of Westeros on HBO's smash series.

So why the bold hairstyle swap? The actress is getting into her role as Cressida in the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay films. In Suzanne Collins' hit book series, the character Cressida is physically described with "a shaved head tattooed with green vines."

In an interview with EW, Dormer explained that she's been waiting some time to flaunt her new hairstyle: "It’s been hidden for 3 months. It happened back in October. I was, you know, waiting for the right moment," she explained.

The actress also knew she would have to shave her head before she committed to the final two film installments of the action-packed series starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth: "Francis Lawrence, the director of Mockingjay, and I discussed it and I took the job on the premise that I would possibly [have to] shave my whole head," she confessed to EW. "I’m actually really pleased that we went halfway because I think it’s more the Capitol… and that’s where Cressida comes from."

While fans will have to wait until November for the first part of Mockingjay to hit theaters, Game of Thrones will return Sunday nights on HBO starting April 6.
