Miley Cyrus may have thought she was making history following her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, but many thought otherwise. Anna Wintour, for one, allegedly found it distasteful.
After the 20-year-old's raunchy twerk appearance with Robin Thicke, Vogue's head honcho and the artistic director for all of Condé Nast reportedly axed the "We Can't Stop" singer from appearing on the magazine's upcoming cover.
Is the rumor mill right on this one?
Sources tell omg! yes and no…so lets get the official stuff out of the way first.
Vogue doesn't comment on rumors about future editorial content, and omg! has emailed a rep for Cyrus but has yet to hear back. However, insiders tell omg! that a shoot was in place for Miley to "possibly" be on the cover. According to sources, that plan has since been changed post-VMAs.
We are told that there is a possibility that Vogue would be interested in featuring Miley in a spread inside the magazine, but as of now, she won't be on the cover.
However, sources close to the singer herself tell omg! she was never scheduled for December Vogue and never did a photo shoot.
Cyrus is no stranger to the Condé Nast family. The singer landed a glamorous spread inside Harper's Bazaar big September issue.
In 2008, Miley also did a highly controversial photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair where the former "Hannah Montana" star appeared to be topless. She later said the shots embarrassed her.

Clearly, Miley doesn't feel the need to apologize for anything now.
The "Wrecking Ball" singer had another unusual performance — this time featuring little people — on German show "Schlag Den Raab" over the weekend and she apparently said she was embarrassed of her previous work.
"Right now, when people go to iTunes and listen to my old music, it's so irritating to me because I can't just erase that stuff and start over," she said. "My last record I feel so disconnected from – I was 16 or 17 when I made it. When you're in your 20s, you just don't really know that person anymore. I want to start as a new artist."
Miley has definitely accomplished that … and the controversial VMAs performance doesn't seem to be costing her any gigs. NBC announced Monday that she'll be pulling double duty as host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" on October 5.
