Alloy Entertainment, which developed the first two films about the four friends, announced plans this week to begin another sequel based on author Ann Brashares's fifth and final Sisterhood book, Sisterhood Everlasting

Starring Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Amber Tamblyn as the four best friends Bridget, Lena, Carmen, and Tibby, respectively, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants arrived in theaters in 2005. The film was a hit among audiences and performed well at the box office.

The four stars teamed up again for 2008's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. The successful sequel was based on Brashares's second, third, and fourth books in the series: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood, and Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood.

"The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy’s most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting nearly a decade after the first film was released," Alloy Entertainment President Les Morgenstein said in a release. "The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again."

The fifth book takes place years after the latest film, painting the childhood friends as grown-up adults who have fallen out of touch. Each woman now has her own life, relationships, and (at times serious) problems.

There is currently no official word as to whether Lively, Bledel, Ferrera, or Tamblyn will reprise their roles in the upcoming installation.

The foursome has remained good friends and gone on to successful careers, a fact Tamblyn marveled at when reunited with her costars for an October 2013 photoshoot for Entertainment Weekly. "'I think it's the wildest thing I have ever come across in my 20 years of acting," the Two and a Half Men star told the publication about the actress' friendship. "There's not a damn thing false about it"

Ferrera, who is lending her voice to the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, told EW, "We've been a part of each other's lives in really meaningful ways that go beyond making a movie together. We almost forget that we made a movie together because our friendship was created from so many other experiences. The fact that our friendship started in this beautiful film that was so meaningful to all of us and to our lives and our careers and to our friendship, we are always so grateful for it."

She went on to add about the possibility of a sequel, "I know that the four of us would love [to make another film], and it would be wonderful." While neither Lively or Bledel has chimed in on their willingness to appear in the film, both seem to have room on their schedules. Lively's only official upcoming project is film The Age of Adaline with Harrison Ford, due to hit theaters in 2015, while Bledel appears in the truncated Fox show Us & Them.
