Scolari and the Broadway actress have been dating for eight and a half years after meeting through mutual friends in the theater community. The couple decided to tie the knot during a break from the Broadway Nora Ephron play Lucky Guy, in which he starred in alongside Hanks. The ceremony was held in a friend's New York City apartment, and conducted by one of Shayne's family members who is a court judge.

"The reality of getting married, it really changed things into something beautiful," Scolari tells Us. "There was transformation."

Scolari's Lucky Guy cast members threw him a surprise party after at the Glass Tavern restaurant. "Everyone in the cast gave so many amazing toasts. I honestly wasn't prepared for that to happen, but it was really all very sweet," the actor tells Us. "It may sound cliche, but there is no surprise that Tom's toast was full of the nicest things that anyone's ever said. I thought it was going to be something of a roast but it wasn't that at all. I sent him a note a few weeks after saying I'm not sure how I'd be able to repay that."
