Kelly Clarkson Has Morning Sickness All Day, But “Super-Excited” to Be Pregnant

Kelly Clarkson visits the SiriusXM Studios on October 8, 2013
During a Nov. 26 appearance on the TODAY show, Kelly Clarkson said she has been having morning sickness "all day and all night," but is "super-exited about being pregnant."

Loving pregnancy! Kelly Clarkson may be suffering from morning sickness, but she's trying to enjoy every minute. After announcing last week that she is expecting her first child with husband Brandon Blackstock, the 31-year-old singer opened up about her pregnancy during an appearance on the TODAY show Tuesday, Nov. 26. Check out Kelly Clarkson's latest appearances here.

"You feeling good?" Savannah Guthrie asked the mom-to-be, who showed off her pregnancy glow in a bright red dress on the show.

"Nope," Clarkson confessed. "I don't know why they call it morning sickness. That's my big joke right now because it's all day and all night. I am super-excited about being pregnant, though. I'm just looking forward to the second trimester . . . they say it's better."

The "Tie It Up" singer announced she was pregnant via Twitter on Nov. 19. "Brandon and I are so excited!" she wrote of her husband, whom she wed last month. "Best early Christmas present ever."

Clarkson explained to Guthrie why she and Blackstock tried to keep the pregnancy a secret at first.

"We were trying to wait until the end of my first trimester because you're supposed to, I guess, because you're less likely to have a miscarriage," she said. "But everybody kept talking about it and I had to cancel something because I've been so ill. I didn't want people to think I was canceling because I'm lazy or something, so we just told people."

In a recent interview with Parade magazine, conducted before her pregnancy announcement, Clarkson said she believes she's going to have a baby girl.

"Do you know something we don't?" Guthrie asked the American Idol alum.

"No, I'm way too early. I'm way too early to know," Clarkson said. "Scientifically, I guess they say — this is going to be too much information — they say if it's later after you ovulate I guess girl sperm lasts longer than boy sperm — I don't know if that's true, my doctor told me that — and I guess mine was late. So there is a scientific reason why I think I'm having a girl."

"Okay, so it's not just a gut feeling?" Guthrie inquired.

"Well, it's a gut feeling, too, because she's killing me," the first-time mom-to-be explained. "And of course it's a girl, right, causing the trouble. So, it's gotta be a girl."

Clarkson also told the TODAY show co-anchor that she and her husband already have a name picked out for a girl or boy. But she explained, "We're not saying because I don't want someone stealing my baby name and I'm so early." Clarkson added with a laugh, "We named our kid before we were even pregnant."
