Lindsay Lohan on Her Relationship With Oprah Winfrey: “I Speak to Her Almost Every Day”

Lindsay Lohan shared with Ellen DeGeneres on March 28 that she speaks to mentor Oprah Winfrey "almost every day"

Oprah Winfrey to the rescue! Lindsay Lohan has had a tumultuous 10 years or so, with multiple stints in rehab, several arrests, and a very public career meltdown. These days, though, she's feeling (and looking) much better — and at least part of that is thanks to media mogul Winfrey, Lohan's mentor and the mastermind behind the actress' new OWN docu-series.

"I speak to her almost every day, and she's just…she's been so amazing to me. Just, you know, for everything, even before the show was coming out," the Mean Girls star gushed to Ellen DeGeneres during a March 28 appearance on the comedienne's talk show.

"I was getting really panicked, because I hadn't really heard my name anywhere in so long, and I would turn on the TV, and it was right after the Oscars, so I thought I'd have a minute, like I thought it would kind of distract from the show…but then I just kept hearing my name, and I started getting really, like, panicked about it," Lohan explained. "I just called her, and she was just talking me through it and everything."

"She got me really into meditation," the 27-year-old actress added of Winfrey, 60. "I mean, she's one of the reasons why that's such a big part of my life. She's just been a really strong guiding light and force to me as a friend and someone that I admire."

Lohan also spoke with DeGeneres about her sixth (and most recent) stint in rehab. (Per a court order, the former child star spent 90 days at a rehab center in California in the summer of 2013.) "When I went to treatment this time, when I went to Cliffside, I really wanted a moment for myself, and I learned a lot of different tools and things that I didn't in the past," she said of how this stay differed from past stays.

"In the past — a lot of people don't know this — I was sent to rehab to avoid [the police] trying to put me in jail. So it wasn't something I necessarily wanted or was ready for," she explained. "This was the first time where I went to Shawn Holley, my lawyer, and said, 'Look, I need some time. I need to figure something out.'" What she figured out, she said, is that she wants to get back to work. "So I'm just going to do what I have to do to get there again," she told DeGeneres.

That means throwing all of her energy into her career. "I just want to work and take care of me right now," she said, adding that dating is "not even a thought" in her mind.

It's apparently a thought on her brother's mind, though. Lohan revealed to DeGeneres that one of her siblings put her on the dating website Tinder without her knowledge. "Yesterday I was talking to someone that works here, and they were like, 'So I hear that you're on Tinder.' I was like, 'I don't even know how to get on it!'" She added, "I'm okay with just taking care of me."
