Chord Overstreet sets his sights high. Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, Dec. 2, the 24-year-old Glee star revealed his crush on one of the most in-demand A-listers in Hollywood: Oscar winner Sandra Bullock.
“I do have a celebrity crush right now,” he admitted, after telling DeGeneres he was single and “looking for Mrs. Wonderful.” “It’s tough with all the, you know, ins and outs of relationships that are always going on, but I would have to say the most current one is Sandra Bullock.”
So does she know how he feels? “I’ve actually never met her,” he confessed. “I saw her. I saw her from a distance at one of these red carpet things, and I was a little…a little bit, like, too scared to talk to her. She was that beautiful.”
“She is very beautiful and she is very funny,” DeGeneres agreed. “She’s hilarious.”
At 49, she’s also 25 years older than Overstreet. But he isn’t fazed by the age difference. “She is older than me, but…I still have a lot to learn and I can be taught a few things, I’m sure,” he said.
DeGeneres then prompted the actor to ask Bullock for a date — which he did on national TV. “Sandra, would you go out with me?” he asked, looking straight into the camera. “Oh, it would be amazing if you could just respond right now so I’m not left waiting.”
(In fact, Bullock — who famously split from Jesse James in 2010 –recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was open to dating, though she didn’t feel like she was “missing anything yet” by being single. “If something happens, great,” she said. “But if not, I’ve got plenty to do.”)
Overstreet also spoke with DeGeneres about the July death of his Glee costar Cory Monteith, who died of heroin and alcohol toxicity at age 31. “It’s been difficult so far,” he said of filming the Fox musical series without Monteith, who played Finn Hudson.
“We’ve all kind of grouped together and really kind of gotten a lot closer because we’ve all been going through the same thing. I mean, [Cory’s] role on the show…he was the heart of the show, and he was a big part of it to everybody and to me, as well,” Overstreet continued. “He was one of my best friends, so it really challenges me to kind of take over his role and be how great he was to everybody.”
“He was that glue,” the star recalled. “Just kind of what stuck everybody together.”
