Emma Watson has yet to meet boyfriend Matthew Janney's family, but she's somehow managed to enchant them anyway. Janney's "second mother" Coralie Day — who took the Oxford University student in after his parents passed away — reportedly spoke to the U.K.'s Evening Standard this week, telling the paper she couldn't be happier about his romance with the Harry Potter alum.
"We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson," Day is quoted as saying. "We are looking forward to meeting her soon. Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely."
Day, 57, said she and her husband James became Janney's unofficial guardians after his mother, Jill, died of breast cancer in 2008, when Janney was 16. (His father, David, passed away when he was a toddler.)
"After Matt's mum died I became his second mother. I took him up to Oxford when he started there. I am very proud of him," Day told the paper. "He is very close to my son Harry, whose father, my first husband, died. They have a lot in common."
The London resident noted, too, that Janney was "excited" when he told her about his relationship with Watson, 23, whom he met through mutual friends. Earlier this month, the couple were photographed sharing an affectionate moment on a beach in the Caribbean.
"Matt came along just as Em wanted to have some fun," a source says in the new issue of Us Weekly. (Prior to dating Janney, the Perks of Being a Wallflower actress was in a long-term relationship with Will Adamowicz. They split last summer.)
