George Clooney may be a grown man and an Oscar-winning actor, but he is still a mama’s boy! The silver fox, 52, already introduced his wife-to-be Amal Alamuddin to his mother multiple times and Mama Clooney is on board with the proposal, the Daily Mail reports.
“You can say I’m extremely happy,” Nina Clooney told the British publication about her longtime bachelor son’s recently announced engagement. “Amal’s a lovely girl. I like her very much.” Clooney is the youngest son of Nina, a former beauty queen, and Nick Clooney, a television personality.
Rumors had been swirling for days that Clooney had finally decided to settle down with Alamuddin, 36, and sources confirmed the news to Us Weekly on Saturday. The British barrister’s “brains and beauty” were also heralded by Clooney’s 74-year-old mother.
Those close to the couple are vocally in support of the match. Sources said the union is “not surprising” and added that Clooney is “incredibly happy,” while Alamuddin’s law firm released the following statement to Reuters: “The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married.”
“He likes a woman with brains and class,” a source told Us Weekly of Clooney’s choice to finally commit to Alamuddin. “She’s the full package… He’s happy and found his ideal match. He didn’t settle, so good for him.”
The Monuments Men actor was notoriously hard to tie down after his 1993 divorce from actress Talia Balsam. He and Balsam were married for four years. In the years since, Clooney has held high-profile relationships with starlets such as Stacy Keibler, Elisabetta Canalis, and Lisa Snowdon.
