Lamar Odom was not surprised when Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce on Friday, Dec. 13. See a timeline of what led Khloe to this decision:
"Lamar expected this," a source close to the NBA player, 34, tells Us Weekly. "He's fine with it. He just wants it over swiftly and smoothly now. He's had time to come to terms with it."
Kardashian's lawyer Laura Wasser filed the legal documents on Friday afternoon in L.A. Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for divorce. TMZ first reported of the reality star's plans to file that morning. On Thursday, Kardashian, 29, posted a cryptic message on Instagram: "I am strong because I've been weak. I am fearless because I've been afraid. I am wise because I've been foolish," it read.
The basketball player and Keeping Up With the Kardashians star married in September 2009. Despite attempts at repairing their marriage, the two have been estranged over the last several months following revelations of Odom's drug use and cheating. The athlete was arrested for a DUI in late August.
Back in September, Odom went on an extended Twitter rant in which he called his estranged father his "downfall" and the Kardashian family a "blessing." Odom tweeted of his biological dad, "He disrespecting the ONLY FAMILY that has loved me without expecting anything in return. They are the ONLY ones that have been here consistently 4 me during this dark time."
On Friday, Kardashian was pictured at the gym, moving on with her daily routine. Odom, meanwhile, has been training in hopes to return to the NBA. "He plans not to fight [the divorce] and just end it as soon as possible," the source adds. "He just wants to move on with his life now."
