Carrie Underwood “Couldn’t Be More Proud” of The Sound of Music Live

After taking on the challenging role of Maria von Trapp in The Sounds of Music Live! on Dec. 5, Carrie Underwood tweeted that she "couldn't be more proud" of the show.

The hills are alive with the sound of victory? Whether she receives good or bad reviews, Carrie Underwood is pleased with her performance in The Sound of Music Live! on Thursday, Dec. 5. After the much-anticipated live television adaptation aired on NBC, the 30-year-old country singer took to Twitter to share her reaction to the show.

“Glory to God tonight . . . I couldn’t be more proud,” Underwood tweeted. “What a tough thing to pull off and we did it! I am so blessed!!!”

Underwood took on the challenging role of Maria von Trapp, famously played by Julie Andrews in the 1965 musical film. True Blood actor Stephen Moyer played Christopher Plummer‘s character Captain von Trapp, the single father of seven children who hires Maria as their governess.

Before Underwood kicked off the live show, she received well-wishes on Twitter from celebrity pals like Cameron Diaz, Miranda Lambert, LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler and Hoda Kotb. Underwood also made a statement on Twitter to Sound of Music fans that she would try and make them proud.

“I just want to say before the craziness starts . . . I am truly honored to be in The Sound of Music Live,” she tweeted. “This is an exciting/moving project . . . I have been surrounded by such an amazing cast and crew for the past 2 months and I will be sad when I’m not coming to set tomorrow.”

“I hope, above all, that we are joyous in what we’re doing and that I am giving it all that I’ve got,” she added. “Thank you all for the love and support.”
