Shailene Woodley is proof that a formal event doesn't have to be a stuffy event. The Divergent actress, 22, brought some fun to the 2014 Costume Institute Gala—a.k.a. the Met Ball—when she posed alongside Kirsten Dunst on the red carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5.
Rocking a multi-print Rodarte number with a sheer overlay skirt and an off-the-shoulder neckline, Woodley sidled up to Dunst and flashed the "hang loose" signal with her hand as she stood, grinning, for photographs.
Dunst, for her part, was more reserved—but her dress was out of this world. She wore an asymmetrical black gown emblazoned with an image of the second Death Star battle station from Star Wars. It (like Woodley's gown) was designed by Rodarte.

The actresses have something else in common, too. Both were cast as Mary-Jane Watson in recent Spider-Man movies, though Woodley's part was cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. (Dunst played MJ in the Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire.)
"I've met her a few times, and we've talked about—we dorked out about—health foods, and we kind of know the same people," Dunst told MTV in 2012 of the Fault in Our Stars actress. "She's really into finding springs and natural water, and she'll, like, go get her water and things like that, and I've done that before. We've talked about that." She added: "If I had to pick someone, I'm happy she's following [in my shoes]."
