Michael Jackson may be gone, but his music lives on. A new single off of Jackson’s posthumous album Xscape made its debut on Thursday evening, May 1.
Called “Love Never Felt So Good,” the track is a collaboration with Justin Timberlake and featured as a bonus on Xscape. It premiered during Thursday’s iHeartRadio Awards, where Timberlake was up for Artist of the Year.
The catchy pop song was originally recorded by the late King of Pop in 1983. Jackson’s vocals open “Love Never Felt So Good,” crooning, “Baby, love never felt so good / and I’d die if it ever could / Not like you hold me, hold me.”
Timberlake, 33, joins the tune, putting a modern spin on the ’80s recording. He also produced his version of “Love Never Felt So Good” with Timbaland.
Jackson passed away in 2009 at the age of 50, but previously recorded music from the beloved performer has continued to see release after his death. In 2010, the posthumous album Michael made its debut, and on May 13, Xscape will hit stores.
This isn’t the first collaboration between Jackson and Timberlake, who has repeatedly listed Jackson as one of his biggest influences. In 2001, Jackson joined Timberlake’s boyband *NSYNC onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, performing the group’s single “Pop.”
