After Jennifer Lawrence told a story about Jennifer Lopez rejecting her invitation to dance, the "I Luh Ya Papi" singer told her side of the story

No hard feelings, J.Law—J.Lo didn't mean to diss you! After Jennifer Lawrence told a story on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon last week about trying unsuccessfully to get Jennifer Lopez to dance with her at the 2013 Met Gala, Access Hollywood asked the "I Luh Ya Papi" singer to give her own version of the events that transpired between the two Jennifers.

"This is how I remember it: I remember that we were at the Met Ball, and Kanye [West] was about to perform, and it was like a crazy moment," Lopez said at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, where she performed twice and accepted the Icon Award. "And then they came over—Jimmy Fallon, he started talking, and I was with Benny [Medina] and Beau [Casper Smart], and then [Jennifer Lawrence] came over, too. It was like they were a little group."

Lopez, 44, recalled Lawrence, 23, wanting to dance, but said she didn't intend to outright reject the Oscar winner. "She was like, 'Let's go dance,' and I was like, 'No, I'm good right here,'" the singer recalled. "But I didn't mean it like, 'I don't want to dance with you.' I just meant, like, 'It's so crowded in here. Let's stay right here.'"

Had it not been so crazy, Lopez would have loved to tear up the floor with the Hunger Games star. "Absolutely. Come on! That would've been so sweet," she gushed.

Lawrence remembers the interaction a little differently—but then, she was under the influence of Jell-O shots at the time. Joking about it with Fallon on Thursday, May 15, the American Hustle actress said she was "like 10 Jell-O shots in" when she and the late-night host saw J.Lo and decided to ask her to dance. They planned a secret routine and everything, but Fallon backed out when he saw Lopez's longtime manager Medina.

"I do it, he's gone, and it's just me looking at J.Lo, going, 'Dance with me!' She was like, 'I think I'm just gonna observe,'" Lawrence recalled. "You made me look like a freak in front of J.Lo! Do you know what that feels like?"
