Girl Meets World Opening Credits Show Cory and Topanga as Parents With Flashbacks to Teen Days

More than ten years after audiences were first introduced to Cory Matthews and his pals Shawn and Topanga, a new girl is getting ready to meet the world. 

In anticipation of the upcoming debut of the Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World on the Disney Channel, the opening credits to the show debuted this week on EW.com. The new clip is set to a cheery theme song called “Take On the World,” which was recorded by two of the show’s young stars, Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter

Newcomer Blanchard, 12, stars in Girl Meets World as Riley Matthews, the daughter of grown-up parents Cory and Topanga, who are played by the Boy Meets World originals Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel. Carpenter, 15, plays Riley’s best friend Maya.

Once teens coming of age themselves, Cory and Topanga are now the cool parents in the new opening credits. Complete with a gem of a Topanga flashback, the video also introduces new characters, including a potential crush for Riley.

In addition to the return of Savage and Fishel, both 33, Girl Meets World will also treat fans to cameos from other series favorites, including expected appearances by Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter, William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny, and Lee Norris, who played class nerd Minkus.
