Sharing is caring, Georgie! Prince George stole more than just the show during his big playdate on Wednesday, April 9. The adorably confident little 8-month-old also swiped a few toys from other kids at the event, which marked his first official stop on Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s royal tour of New Zealand and Australia.
As Us Weekly reported earlier, the heir to the British throne joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for a playgroup with 10 other families in the Blundell Room at Government House in Wellington, New Zealand. The room was overflowing with both toddlers and toys — and the future king couldn’t get enough of either!
The first toy he grabbed was a purple tambourine, but he quickly grew bored of that and started going after other kids’ playthings. Middleton tried to give him a blue plastic block, but George threw it to the floor (after putting it in his mouth, of course).
At one point, he waved his arms to get a little girl’s attention and then sneakily stole the wooden doll she was playing with. The girl, Paige Stevens, started to cry, so Duchess Catherine stroked her hair in an attempt to comfort her, and then bonded with Paige’s mum over the moment.
“Paige grabs toys. She’s just started teething,” British-born Jenny Stevens, 34, told the Duchess. Middleton, 32, replied, “George too!”
The future monarch also had some fun with a baby drum set, and a fellow playgroup participant named Isabella Tunstall. “Isabella and George had a lot of fun on the drums,” Isabella’s dad Ryan told reporters. “It was a pleasure sharing our beautiful baby with the Duke and Duchess. The whole thing was a wonderful highlight.”
