Anna Wintour, Sarah Jessica Parker Critique Kanye West, Tom Brady, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Met Gala Looks: See Who Got It Right!

Though Wintour joked that the Sex and the City star “talked too much” during the star-studded bash, she also mused about past co-chairs.

“Each year it’s different,” Wintour told Meyers. “The year we had Oprah Winfrey as the co-chair for American Woman [in 2010], people would curtsey in front of her. When we had George Clooney as co-chair for Super Heroes [in 2008], the women would not leave his side. They were handing out their email address, their phone numbers. But he had the best line of all. He said, ‘Hi, I’m George Clooney, and I’m running for Congress, do I have your vote?'”

Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour and Seth Meyers
Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday, May 7 to talk about the fashion at the Met Ball.

This year the fashion pressure was on the men, with the invitation instructing all males to wear “white tie.” So SJP and Wintour went through some of the night’s top looks in menswear.

Quarterback Tom Brady opted to ignore the invitation, going black tie in Tom Ford, but Wintour excused the offense saying, “Well he has Gisele [Bundchen], so that helps.”

Super-scruffy Jake Gyllenhaal was another offender in a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci custom outfit, but New York native Parker called his look “Brooklyn white tie!”

Meyers showed off his white tie and Calvin Klein outfit worn at the gala, but got chastised for skipping the tails.

Kanye West Met Gala
Anna Wintour said Kanye West almost got it right, but forgot his winged collar and white tie.

“I didn’t wear the tails, but when you work on SNL, if you ever wear tails, it looks like you were just in a sketch,” Meyers said, defending his look.

Vogue cover boy Kanye West almost perfectly executed the elegant look in a Lanvin tux, but Wintour pointed out that he didn’t have a winged collar or white tie.

“I like that he got absolutely as close as he could, and then didn’t wear the white tie. That’s a very Kanye take on this,” Meyers joked of Kim Kardashian‘s husband-to-be.
