Robin Williams’ Widow Susan Schneider Breaks Down in First Interview Since His Death

Robin Williams‘ widow, Susan Schneider, has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since the beloved actor died of suicide at age 63 in August 2014. But now, for the first time, she’s opening up about his death in a televised interview with ABC NewsAmy Robach, set to air on Good Morning America and Nightline next Tuesday, Nov. 3.

In a snippet of the emotional sit-down, released by ABC on Friday, Oct. 30, Susan breaks down as she recalls her life and last days with the comedian. “It’s the best love I ever dreamed of,” says Schneider, who married the Oscar winner in 2011.

In another part of the interview, she sobs over his death, recalling, “I just screamed, ‘Robin, what happened, what did you do?'” 

The Good Will Hunting star was found dead in the home he shared with Susan on Aug. 11, 2014. As reported last year, he suffered from anxiety and Parkinson’s disease prior to his death.

After his passing, Susan, 51, was involved in a legal dispute with his grown children — Zachary, Zelda, and Cody, all from previous marriages — over his estate. They reached a settlement earlier this month.

“I feel like Robin’s voice has been heard and I can finally grieve in the home we shared together,” Susan said in a statement to Reuters from her lawyer James Wagstaffe at Kerr & Wagstaffe LLP.

“While it was painful to have truckloads of his belongings removed from our home, it’s the few sentimental items I get to hold onto that mean everything to me,” she added. “I thank God for this.”
