Play It Again, Hugh! Playboy founder Hugh Hefner turned 88 on Wednesday, April 9, but the icon celebrated his latest milestone days earlier on April 4. True to his birthday tradition, Hefner invited over a host of pals to watch the classic film Casablanca.
“Tonight we start my weekend birthday celebration with the screening of my all time favorite film “Casablanca” with family and friends,” he tweeted.
He also shared a photo with his wife Crystal Harris, writing, “Here’s looking at you, kid.” W/ @crystalhefner #CasablancaNight.”
For the event, Hef rounded up about 15 male friends (dressed in the film’s signature white tuxedos) and 28 ladies, who also dressed up for the occasion.
The mogul has been hosting the 1942 Humphrey Bogart/Ingrid Bergman film’s screening for years on his birthday. In honor of this milestone, he also wrote a note to his younger self for the CBS series Note to Self.
“Asking the world to change is hard, but don’t worry, you’ll be up to the fight and you will prevail,” Hefner writes to himself. “Those who don’t know you will label you a womanizer, but I know the truth — you’re a hopeless romantic.”
