Megyn Kelly Tells a South Dakota Senate Candidate She Lost on Live TV

Well, this is awkward. Megyn Kelly was the inadvertent bearer of bad news on Tuesday, June 3, when she invited GOP Senate candidate Annette Bosworth on her Fox News show, The Kelly File, not knowing that Bosworth had yet to find out the results of her primary race.

“I want to start with the breaking news from the Associated Press, that reports that you have lost your race, and that former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds has prevailed in the GOP primary,” Kelly began. “Your thoughts on that and then we’ll get to the controversy.”

Bosworth, clearly a little flustered, replied, “Well, that’s news to me. I didn’t know that…I didn’t know. So, I found out on national television.” She ultimately managed to recover enough to formulate something of a response to the loss, but her surprise and disappointment was evident.

“You know, Megyn, it’s been an amazing race, and it’s very important that South Dakota shows the country about getting behind the Republican in South Dakota so that we can get Harry Reid out of…get him kicked to the curb,” Bosworth said, somewhat haltingly. “So the next step of this race is to support our Republican primary, as much as that’s disappointing to me.”

“Sorry to break the news to you,” Kelly told her. “The former governor does, is said to have a good chance as far as the GOP field goes.”
