That’s what friends are for! Jennifer Lawrence hilariously fell (again!) on the Oscars red carpet Sunday night, and now the woman that barely caught her fall is speaking out! It turns out, the shoulders the American Hustle actress grabbed onto outside L.A.’s Dolby Theatre during the slip belong to none other than her self-proclaimed best friend Laura Simpson.

In an extensive MySpace blog post, model Simpson — who met the Oscar winner seven years ago — revealed what it was like to be the star’s plus one, and which celebrities she met during and after the big show.

“We finally arrive at the red carpet and as we exit the car, my date eats sh-t and uses my freshly done Lauren Conrad up do to break her fall,” Simpson joked in her March 4 post. “The crowd goes wild. There are flashbulbs and people circling, yet no one asks if I need any help because unless you are famous at the Oscars, you are completely invisible.”

“It is no wonder actors are crazy. The carpet is filled with screaming fans and photographers who only care about you,” she continued. “We finally make it to the end of the carpet and I decide to use the restroom before I sit.”

The quick pit-stop ended up becoming her first celebrity encounter (besides her BFF, of course.) “Jessica Biel holds the door open for me and compliments my dress—no human being should be allowed to have her face and body,” she quipped. Wolf of Wall Street‘s Margot Robbie also showed off her “Kardashian-sized diamond ring” while in line.

Once inside the venue, Lawrence, 23, took her seat in the front row next to boyfriend Nicholas Hoult, and her Hustle costar Bradley Cooper. Simpson didn’t get much of a view behind a camera crane, but did manage to interact with other A-listers.

“Some guy picks up my purse that had fallen off my seat and I say ‘Thank you…Channing Tatum,'” she wrote. Jennifer Garner helped when her dress got caught, a pregnant Kerry Washington asked if she could eat Simpson’s Slim Jim (!), and she even met Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie backstage. (When she asked what fragrance Pitt was wearing — Simpson noted that Pitt smelled “amazing” — the Chanel No. 5 spokes-hunk claimed he didn’t have any on.)

Lawrence lost out to 12 Years a Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o for Best Supporting Actress, but the longtime friends still had fun when, after a quick dress change, they hit up the annual Vanity Fair after party. “At one point [Bill Murray] looks in my direction and winks at me while dancing to ‘If You Want My Body and You Think I’m Sexy’ by Rod Stewart—a moment, I now realize, my whole life had been leading up to,” Simpson wrote. Just as bananas? Fashion designer Rachel Zoe complimented Simpson on her gown.

Simpson returned home around 3:30 a.m., and despite that embarrassing red carpet moment, had an unforgettable night overall. “The whole experience was completely exhausting, overwhelming and surreal,” she admitted. “I think what I took most away from the evening was how lovely all the women were.”

Name-dropping one more (in)famous Oscars mainstay, she added: “Actresses tend to get a bad reputation, but every woman I met was lovely, witty and introduced themselves to me even though I wasn’t famous—even Anne Hathaway.”
