No one knows heartbreak quite like Nick Viall. The business exec has made it to The Bachelorette’s final rose ceremony twice. On season 10 in 2014, Andi Dorfman dumped Viall for Josh Murray. The following season, Kaitlyn Bristowe rejected him and accepted a ring from personal trainer Shawn Booth.
But heartache has only made Viall stronger — and certainly wiser. While celebrating Valentine’s Day at The Biggest Group Date Ever event at NYC’s Ainsworth lounge, cohosted by fellow Bachelor Nation alum Ashley Iaconetti and FlockU, Viall told Us Weekly just how to get over an ex.
“Getting dumped can’t kill you. I’m living proof!” the model, 35, told Us Weekly. “No matter what, you will always get over it. Think about it. You’re going to wake up. You’re going to have anxiety. And there’s nothing you can do about it. But you have to remind yourself that even when you feel that, you have to say, ‘I will get over it.’ Keep saying that.”
After all, time heals all wounds. “One day you’ll be like, ‘I really liked that person that much? Wow.’” he continued. “Your ego is bruised a little bit. It’s inevitable. Death, taxes and break ups. You’ll get over them. It’s fine. And it’s fine if you’re not fine right now. You can’t force it.”
These days, the single stud has no trouble getting attention from women. During the event’s auction, a partygoer bid $5,600 to score 45 minutes of one-on-one time with VIall! (The February 14 fete, which boasted $3,000 worth of roses by Starbright Floral Design, raised more than $30,000 for Pennsylvania State University’s Dance MaraTHON and pediatric cancer.)
“I like a woman who’s confident,” he said. “Someone that challenges me. Single biggest turn-off? Baby talk. Whenever girls do it I’m like, ‘Oh my God, stop talking!’”
