The Goop founder, who got slack last month when she explained why she only does one film a year since having children, has signed on to Billy Ray's (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games) remake of Oscar winning crime thriller El Secreto de Sus Ojos.
The role marks Paltrow's first gig since announcing her split from her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, back in March. Paltrow most recently worked on the drama Mortdecai, which costars Johnny Depp and Olivia Munn and hits theaters in 2015.
In an interview with E! News in March, the actress explained why she has a "rule about one movie a year," explaining: "I think it's different when you have an office job … When you're shooting a movie, they're like, 'We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,' and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it's not like being on set."
The Iron Man actress took to her Goop blog on May 8 after getting heat from moms everywhere and wrote her statement on working 9-5 was taken out of context and she hopes to end the "mommy wars."
The mom to daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7, ended her rant with a series of questions like, "Why do we feel so entitled to opine, often so negatively, on the choices of other women?" and signed off with a mere: "To every single mother out there, have a wonderful Mother's Day."
