We all knew it was coming! After Adam Levine bleached his hair to a shocking platinum blonde on Saturday, May 3, he had to face the music during The Voice's Top 8 Live Shows on Monday, May 5.
The Maroon 5 frontman, 35, was the brunt of plenty of jokes, debuting his look for America and his fellow coaches after posting a picture via Twitter over the weekend. No one was more merciless than longtime pal Blake Shelton.
After host Carson Daly questioned Levine about his drastic decision, the country crooner finally chimed in.
"Wait, that's Adam?!" he exclaimed. "I thought Meg Ryan was sitting in with us tonight!"
The Grammy winner laughed off his friend's jokes, admitting he didn't change his hair for a movie role, but instead he had the day off and was bored.
Usher compared the look to Bruce Willis' hairstyle from 1997's Fifth Element, and Shakira declared that blondes have the most fun. Naturally, Shelton got in the last on-air dig, calling his pal "Miley Cyrus."
On the red carpet following the Live Show, Levine didn't want to talk much about his new 'do, but Shelton happily announced to Us Weekly, "Both my wives are blonde now!"
Despite avoiding the topic of his hair, the pop rocker isn't intimidated by the criticism. On May 4 he tweeted, "I hope people understand that when they say my hair looks creepy i take that as the highest compliment."
