Ryan Lochte’s American Flag Grill Was Stolen — But He Has a New One!

Ryan Lochte’s has lots of bling to show off in the form of his many swimming medals, but one piece of hardware got more attention than the five he earned at the London Olympics in 2012 — his grill!

After winning Team USA’s first gold medal of the Games in the men’s 400-meter individual medley, Lochte made waves for his American flag-themed grill, which he wore on the podium.

The reportedly $25,000 dental accessory, designed by jewelers Paul Wall and Johnny Dang, was the talk of the town, and apparently the envy of London as well.

“Someone stole [my grill]!” Lochte exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, March 10, at an event celebrating his partnership with Airweave, a mattress enjoyed by many athletes. “It was in the Olympic Village the last day and they stole the tops and I thought I just misplaced them, but no, I never misplace them. I put them back in their case all the time!”

Naturally, the 11-time Olympic medalist needed to replace his beloved accessory.

“I have a new one, it’s black diamonds,” the former star of What Would Ryan Lochte Do? explained. “No one’s had a black diamond grill, I haven’t seen one.”

Now that he’s got his style lined up for the summer 2016 Games in Rio, his focus is on training for his fourth Olympics. And at 31 years old, recovery is more important to his training than ever.

“We go to the Olympic training Center in Colorado, and Airweave had sent a bunch of mattresses for the dorms and everything, and when I went there I was sleeping on it and I was like, ‘Wow, I’m getting better sleep here than I am back at my house. What’s going on?’” he said. “Before [Airweave], I was always waking up at night just sore because I sleep on my side and that side would be sore and when I’d go to practice I’d be like, ‘I can’t move my arm. This is not good.’ But now, with Airweave, I haven’t really had any problems when I wake up. I feel recovered so I can train at a higher level now.”
