For Julia Roberts, there was no greater surgical risk than not getting plastic surgery at all.
The Normal Heart actress, 47, spoke in a new interview with the UK's You magazine, opening up about her decision to forgo cosmetic surgery as she grows older.
"By Hollywood standards, I guess I've already taken a big risk in not having had a face-lift," Roberts said.
Her words come as another Oscar-winning actress over 40 has found herself in the spotlight for her appearance. Renée Zellweger turned heads last Monday when she hit the red carpet at the 2014 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., looking fresh-faced, if not slightly different.

"I've told Lancome that I want to be an aging model," continued Roberts, who has served as an ambassador for the beauty brand since 2009. "They have to keep me for at least five more years until I'm over 50."
While she has stayed away from the surgical table, Roberts has found her own anti-aging techniques, telling the mag that she relies on "studying yoga on a more conscious level."
The August: Osage County star — mom to kids Hazel and Phinnaeus, 9, and Henry, 7, with husband of 12 years Danny Moder — also noted that she has found peace in a decluttered life. "It's about non-grasping, non-hoarding, cleaning out your closet, dusting out your mind and letting go of the things that weigh you down mentally and emotionally," she explained. "There's a lightness to my life now — an airy quality of not taking things too seriously. That's happiness"
