It’s been a rough few years for these girls. Real Housewives of New Jersey teen Gia Giudice shared a heartbreaking Instagram post on Wednesday, March 23, as her dad, Joe Giudice, reported to prison for his 41-month sentence.
The eldest Giudice daughter, 15, posted a pic of herself with her father from his going-away party at the Blu Alehouse on Monday. “Always and forever,” Gia captioned the father-daughter snapshot.
Gia has been increasingly sentimental leading up to her father’s incarceration, and shared numerous photos with her parents on social media in the days before Joe reported. A week ago, the high school student posted a pic with her dad at her cousin’s wedding. The week prior, she uploaded a snap of herself with Joe at a family dinner. “Spent my Sunday right,” Gia captioned the pic.
Joe, 43, also shared an emotional farewell with his wife, Teresa Giudice, before checking in to prison at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey on Wednesday. The father of four was photographed hugging his wife and giving her a kiss before he surrendered himself to the facility, where he will likely spend the next three and a half years behind bars.
The family’s attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., told Us Weekly in a statement that his client checked in at noon. “His brother, his sister and several other members of the Giudice family, as well as myself, were present when he turned himself in to the prison, including Teresa,” Leonard told Us. “It was obviously a very emotional day, but this is a very strong family with a tremendous support system and they will get through this, just as they did when Teresa was away.”
Teresa returned home in December 2015, after serving 11 months behind bars at the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut. The reality TV stars both plead guilty to multiple counts of fraud in 2014. Teresa and Joe are parents to Gia, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6.
Teresa told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview that her husband “hasn’t even asked” for advice about navigating prison. “I didn’t know anything [when I went to prison]. You go with the flow,” the New Jersey Housewife told Us on March 5. “You just go with it and you adapt. You don’t trust anyone.”
