Nicole Kidman is leaning way out. The Oscar-winning actress said in a recent interview that she would quit Hollywood and give up her film career in favor of her family.
Kidman, 46, spoke to the Daily Mail at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her upcoming film Grace of Monaco. She told the publication that though her schedule is busy with a bevy of upcoming movies, her biggest priority is her family.
The star has been married to country singer Keith Urban since June 2006 and is the mother to two children, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 5, and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, 3, with Urban. She also has a daughter and a son, Isabella, 21, and Connor, 19, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
Kidman, who stars in Grace of Monaco as the late Grace Kelly, says she wouldn't have taken the role if Urban, 46, had asked her not to.
"If he said no, I wouldn't have done it," she told the Daily Mail. "That's how we are."
"I know this sounds old-fashioned, but I do put it on the table," she continued. "Because if it won't work for us, then I'm not doing it."
Kidman also recently spoke to the Associated Press, confessing that the time she won the Oscar for Best Actress for The Hours in 2003, she was incredibly lonely. "That was the most intensely lonely experience in my life," she said about the period after her 2001 divorce from Cruise, 51.
The actress, who called her husband Urban "a prince," went on to add to the Daily Mail that if she was required to make the choice between family and career, she would choose family.
"Yeah, if he asked me," she said of Urban. "No question."
