Justin Bieber Cancels Tour Meet-and-Greets — Find Out Why

What do you mean? Justin Bieber has canceled all of his tour meet-and-greets — and the 22-year-old pop sensation says it’s because they leave him feeling “exhausted to the point of depression.”

The “Love Yourself” hitmaker shared his news via Instagram alongside a photograph of himself with a young fan who had been lucky enough to come cheek-to-cheek with her idol on his current Purpose tour.

Love u guys.. I’m going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.. Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .. The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can’t tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn’t so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I’m in to give you the best show you have ever seen 😉

“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .. The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders,” he continued in a long and rambling post.

Shortly after Bieber made his announcement, Bkstg, the company in charge of Bieber’s VIP packages for which fans have paid between $900 and $2,000, confirmed the decision, adding that a recent security issue had led to a change in meet-and-greet policy.

“During a recent show, there was a security incident that caused our team to have to meet and re-think how meet and greets were handled,” the company wrote in a message to fans.

“This is a new tour with new venues almost every night and still a changing process, but we have decided for the time being that this is our best course of action.”

The company is offering fans refunds (but only if they forfeit their actual concert ticket too). Otherwise they can exchange their meet-and-greet ticket for a VIP hangout ticket, meaning the fans can still see Bieber and hang in a lounge near him, but not take up-close photographs.
