Pokemon Artist Eric Medalle Dies in Accident While Driving With His Baby Girl

Eric Medalle, a longtime artist and graphic designer for The Pokemon Company, was killed during a strong windstorm in Seattle, Washington, that left thousands without power on Sunday, March 13. Medalle was 42.

According to local reports, the graphic designer was driving with his 2-year-old daughter when a large tree fell and crushed his BMW X3. The little girl survived the accident with minor injuries, King 5 News reported.

Medalle, who is married to a school teacher named, Carrie, is also dad to a 6-year-old daughter. He has worked for the Pokemon company, starting as a freelancer, since 1999.

A GoFundMe account was setup for his daughters following his death. According to the page on YouCaring.com, the account is to ensure that his children are able go to college.

“Eric’s daughters were the center of his world, and their well-being and education was of the utmost importance to him,” the page reads. “Education and curiosity are important Medalle family values. Eric was raised in Detroit and graduated a proud Wolverine from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was passionate about art, photography, music and design, and his chosen hometown of Seattle provided endless inspiration. It was in Seattle that Eric met and fell in love with his wife, Carrie, and together they created a beautiful life and family.”
