In the early hours of Thursday, May 5, the chart-topping singer took to Twitter to let out all of her frustrations about the furor her supposedly lighthearted dig at Nicki Minaj had created, after she received some serious side-eye on the Met Gala red carpet.

As Us Weekly previously reported, the drama began when Minaj, 33, posted a photo of herself, Lovato, 23, and Jeremy Scott, the fashion designer who created both of the musicians’ Moschino gowns for this year’s Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology–themed affair.

The “Anaconda” rapper tagged Scott, 40, and Moschino, but did not mention Lovato. The former Disney star took to Snapchat to address the snub: “When you aren’t mentioned in a post but didn’t do s–t to the person,” Lovato wrote alongside a funny-filtered selfie.

Later, the “Confident” singer shared the now-viral pic of Minaj seemingly glaring at her. “This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met,” she captioned the snap, adding a slew of hashtags including “#whatsgood,” the infamous line Minaj used against Miley Cyrus in their onstage showdown at the 2015 Video Music Awards.

But despite returning to social media later to insist it was all a “joke,” and that she wasn’t really bothered by Minaj’s shade, Lovato evidently continued to receive backlash for her comments.

“Sometimes there’s more to the story. Sometimes there’s more s–t going on than you see,” Lovato blasted in the start of very long Twitter rant. “Maybe you DON’T know every aspect of my life so maybe you shouldn’t assume you know. Maybe I’m tired of sharing my story with the world,” she went on.

“Maybe my midnight rants are a part of my bipolar disorder. Can’t change being crazy.. But you can press unfollow,” she continued. “Or maybe I rant online because people assume they know things and their entitlement to know makes me feel obligated to defend myself.”

She then went on to admonish internet trolls and try to make them feel guilty about their behavior. “Imagine the love of ur life/biggest crush finding out u spend time on the Internet commenting negative s–t about celebrities. Embarrassed?” she raged.

“Or imagine telling your future children how you spent more time cyber bullying strangers than you did building a better future for them.. At least I’m honest,” Lovato went on. “I’d rather annoy people with my honesty and loud opinions than stay silent and be fake as f–k. #lasttweetofthenight #goingtosleep.”
