Chelsea Clinton slammed 2016 presidential hopefuls Donald Trump and Ted Cruz on Friday, March 25, for their most recent war of words. Hillary Clinton’s daughter linked the rival Republican candidates’ recent wife war to “vitriol and hate speech.”

"Well, I wouldn't defend anything that Senator Cruz and Mr. Trump says, or believes in, or stands for," Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s daughter said at a Wisconsin campaign stop. "I think that the level of vitriol goes beyond anything that we certainly have seen in contemporary times in this election, and I think that anyone who is involved in politics … continues to stand up against that type of vitriol and hate speech.”

On Wednesday, Trump ignited a nasty battle with Cruz after he posted a meme making fun of Cruz’s wife Heidi’s appearance.

Trump, 69,  tweeted out a split photo of Heidi and a glam-looking Melania Trump that read: “No need to ‘spill the beans’ the images are worth a thousand words.”

Cruz, 45, responded somewhat calmly at first, tweeting back at the GOP candidate: “Donald, real men don’t attack women. Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life.”

But during a factory tour in Dane, Wisconsin, on Thursday, Cruz was visibly angered, telling the camera: “Donald, you're a sniveling coward, and leave Heidi the hell alone!"
