Washington's first official public appearance in no way disappointed. "It's been a while," she told Us Weekly, laughing, of getting glammed up for the event. "It was really fun." The stylish star, 37, glowed in a flouncy abstract printed skirt and cleavage-baring black top by Max Mara. "I love that the dress has a Jackson Pollock thing going on—it's my funky artsy moment."

The star left her hair down in loose waves and sported a bright coral lip color that matched her speckled pointed-toe Louboutins. "The shoes look like candy," she quipped.

An observer on the red carpet told Us that Washington "looked comfortable" and "happy to be out and about" while chatting with reporters. Added the eyewitness: "She was post-pregnancy glowing… All eyes were on her."

She will return to work in a few weeks, as well. "I think we desire to live really full lives," Washington told Us of being a working mom, "and I think we have to honor that as best we can—in whatever shape that takes."

The notoriously private star's stunning appearance comes two days after she had updated fans—without revealing too much—on motherhood and its joys. "I will say I feel really, really blessed," she remarked during a sit-down Twitter Q&A hosted by the Los Angeles Times. "I just feel really blessed that I'm kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life."
