"Tender undoing" is the new "conscious uncoupling."
Two days after announcing her split from husband Ty Murray, Jewel celebrated the Fourth of July holiday with the rodeo star and the couple's 2-year-old son Kase.
"Happy fourth everyone!" the 40-year-old wrote via Instagram. "Kase & I enjoyed the parade here in CO. Send pics of your weekend!"
The soon-to-be exes were all smiles in a cute snapshot, as the "Hands" singer held onto their little boy near a parade.
Jewel and Murray, 44, secretly eloped to the Bahamas in August 2008. Earlier this week, the country singer announced their separation after 16 years together, noting it was a "tender undoing." (In March, Gwyneth Paltrow used the phrase "conscious uncoupling" when she announced her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.)
"My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce," Jewel wrote on her official blog July 2. "Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together."
She continued: "We trust we can remain dear friends who hold each other in high esteem, which is so important to us as parents-as we wish only what is best for our son."
