“When James proposed, I just thought, ‘Well, never done that before,'” the Pirates of the Caribbean actress admitted of her small, intimate wedding in May 2013. “It seemed like a fun thing to do.”

As for her decision to switch it up career-wise and go for a romantic comedy, the actress said she was ready for her character to stand a chance. (Knightley previously said in an interview in March 2014 all of her characters have “either died or [were] subjected to situations that were…horrific.”)

“With a feel-good film you are always risking going way too cheesy,” Knightley told the magazine, “But maybe I can have a little holiday where I’m not playing a character who is being destroyed.”

In her latest film, musical romance Begin Again, the Anna Karenina actress plays Greta, Adam Levine’s character’s girlfriend.

“He did play a d-ckhead very well,” Knightley says of Levine’s acting debut, where he plays a good-looking musician who gets blinded by fame and fortune. “Actually, I admire him being so willing,” she added, “To play a d-ckhead is quite a big thing when you are trying to break into film and you want to be likable.”

The brunette beauty also touched upon her own career in the spotlight. “There are those who manage that time of their lives really welldoing a lot of partying and making a lot of mistakes and thinking the world is only there for you, but I was way too introverted, and there was always this s–tload of photographers, who made it worse,” Knightley said of her twenties. “When I hit 25, for some reason I didn’t care anymoreI allowed myself to chill out. Since then, everything’s been amazing.”

Glamour‘s July 2014 issue hits newsstands on June 17. Begin Again hits theaters July 4.
