When Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer was a little girl, her mother would take her to yard sales to find objects to help decorate their home.
“My mom was trying to make ends meet, we didn’t have a lot of money, she wanted to create a beautiful home and do it on a budget,” Spencer explained to Us Weekly in an exclusive video interview.
The author of Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures, 45, now enjoys passing on the skills she’s learned to her own daughter Kate.
“I think my daughter, who is 9, has a better eye than I do,” Spencer said of Kate. “I know my mom used to say that about me as well. She’s just so sophisticated. She has a bold sense of color. She doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.”
