Not exactly the world’s best-kept secret. Although Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have yet to formally announce their happy baby news, their Dancing With the Stars pals are already taking to social media to congratulate the couple after news broke on Wednesday, May 25, that the engaged couple are expecting their first child.
“So incredibly happy for two beautiful friends,” Dancing pro Henry Byalikov captioned a photo of the pair dancing at their masquerade-theme engagement party held in NYC’s Paramount Hotel. “Bringing new life into the world is going to be an amazing experience especially into such a loving bond between you both. Mazel tov! Love you both! To the next twinkle toes! #regram @maksimc @petamurgatroyd.”
As Us Weekly previously reported, Chmerkovskiy, 36, and Murgatroyd, 29, now have a pregnancy to add to their growing laundry list of exciting news. The couple got engaged in December after the Ukraine native got down on one knee during a performance of Sway: A Dance Trilogy at the Olympia Theater in Miami.
“I kind of knew a couple of years ago,” he told Us exclusively at the time of knowing the blonde beauty was The One. “But it’s a process. With this family, the hardest part of the process was to keep it a secret.… This was definitely the best decision I ever made.”

The pair first dated for 10 months in 2012 before splitting in 2013. They rekindled their romance in early 2015.
“I’ve always said he has the most incredible generosity,” Murgatroyd exclusively told Us during a visit to Us Weekly’s NYC headquarters in February. “He wants to take care of everybody that he knows. He has an incredible sense of humor when you get to see it. I think that his bad-boy image is slowly kind of drifting away.… He’s just a great man.”
During that same interview, Murgatroyd alluded to the fact that she would love to have a few kids with Chmerkovskiy.
“[He’s] somebody that I’ve always seen as being a great father and a great husband,” she told Us.
