Early aughts revival! Khloé Kardashian brought it back to the year 2000 for her latest hairstyle while attending Scott Disick‘s birthday party at Nobu Malibu on Thursday, May 26. Specifically, Koko time-traveled to September 7 of that year, when Jennifer Lopez rocked half-up pigtails at the VMAs.
Kardashian, 31, pretty much followed J.Lo’s look to a T. She started off her throwback style with her blonde tresses in the same half-up, double-pony ‘do. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star even wrapped an embellished white headband around her forehead (Lopez’s was a folded white bandana).
But the similarities between the two styles didn’t end there. Kardashian wore all white (minus her striped, fur coat) just like the “Jenny from the Block” singer, now 46 — who at the time was dating Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs — and donned her signature hoop earrings, which also happen to have been a part of Lopez’s VMA look.
Though the Strong Looks Better Naked author never admitted she was copying Lopez’s 2000-era vibes, she did acknowledge that the outfit and hair was different for her. “Side bar…. Scotts birthday party is not a themed party lol,” she wrote via Instagram, implying her getup was more like a costume than a typical ensemble. “Just felt like it with my @kourtneykardash.” (Kardashian’s random connection to the “I’m Real” singer: Her ex-boyfriend, French Montana, rapped on Lopez’s 2014 banger, “I Luh Ya Papi.”)
