Slow down! Chris Rock posted a shady tweet aimed at Selena Gomez, unfavorably comparing her to Beyoncé. On Tuesday, June 7, the Top Five actor, 51, shared a meme that insinuated the “Same Old Love” singer, 23, is the poor man’s version of Queen Bey.
The comedian posted a photo of Gomez performing on her Revival Tour, wearing a gold bodysuit reminiscent of Beyoncé’s Formation world tour wardrobe. The shot was stamped with the following phrase: “when you buy your formation tickets on craigslist.” Rock didn’t write the caption, but he did add his own commentary. “This is true,” he wrote alongside the pic.

Not surprisingly, his humor fell flat with diehard Selenators, who were quick to defend their favorite pop princess on social media.
“@chrisrock Selena gomez is better than you shut up,” one fan sassily fired back at Rock, while another wrote: “@chrisrock I hope you feel good about yourself now. A grown man has to slam a young woman to make himself feel better. That’s sad Chris.”
“@chrisrock if its a joke, its not funny,” another wrote in defense of Gomez. “@selenagomez is a young star and am sure your kids love her. Its just an outfit.”
Rock’s dis of the Disney Channel alum comes as a surprise, given that she graciously met and posed for photos with the Grown Ups star’s young daughters Lola, now 13, and Zahra, now 12, at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards back in 2010.
Regardless of Rock’s rude remark, Gomez feels as though her Revival tour reflects some of her best work to date.
“I have never cared about a tour as much as I care about this one. I’ve never worked as hard,” she told Us Weekly during an April interview. “Every day I start with a workout, I do vocal lessons, I do piano lessons. I go on stage and we map out the whole thing.”
