Christina Hendricks: My Husband and I Don’t Want to Have Kids

Christina Hendricks said that she and her husband are not planning to have children.

Christina Hendricks may have played a variety of characters in her prolific acting career, but one role she is not hoping to take on in her personal life is that of a mother. The Mad Men actress, 38, covers the May issue of Health magazine and spoke to the publication about her feelings on children.

Hendricks, who has been married to Body of Proof actor Geoffrey Arend since 2009, told the publication that kids are not in her future.

"We've decided that we are not really interested in having children," she said in the interview with Health. "It seems like it's expected that you'd want to have kids."

"It's just very normal for people to say, 'Well, when you guys have kids…' And then when I say, 'Actually I don't think we're going to do that,' people will say, 'Oh, you say that now…'" Hendricks continued. "It doesn't bother me, though. And, you know, there's a small chance I could change my mind."

While there are no current plans for a baby, the Emmy nominee says she is exercising her maternal instincts with the couple's new puppy. "We got a puppy, and that's my idea of starting a family," Hendricks told Health. "People say, 'Oh, that's practice for parenting,' but if it's practice for anything it's to be a mom to another puppy."

Hendricks returned to TV this past Sunday in the premiere of the final season of Mad Men. The show that made her a household name isn't all that's on Hendrick's plate, however; she also appears in the upcoming films How to Catch a Monster, led by Ryan Gosling, and A Book of Common Prayer with Allison Janney.
