The Good Wife Fashion: Costume Designer Daniel Lawson Shares Go-To Designers, Secrets from the Wardrobe Department

With five seasons under its belt, The Good Wife has made a name for itself not only for the shenanigans in and out of the courthouse, but also for the gorgeous outfits worn by the Emmy-wining CBS legal drama’s female leads.

To kick off the show’s sixth season, Us Weekly visited the Brooklyn wardrobe department of The Good Wife to speak to the show’s costume designer, Daniel Lawson, and find out the secrets to dressing Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, and Archie Panjabi in office-appropriate, yet totally feminine outfits.

“This season [Alicia Florrick is] very streamlined and more neutral-toned,” Lawson told Us. As for the designers behind Margulies’ perfectly tailored suits and dresses, Lawson dishes that he relies on Armani, Escada, and his own 35 DL line.

For seasoned lawyer Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), Lawson keeps the closet stocked with a healthy amount of Oscar de la Renta, Lanvin, and Etro. “My image for her was definitely Madison Avenue,” Lawson reveals.
