Jennifer Garner Was Mad at Ben Affleck After Their Ice Bucket Challenge Video

Find out why Jen Garner was upset with Ben Affleck after she helped him with his Ice Bucket Challenge video -- plus, find out why she's "strict" with their kids in some respects.

The wrath of the wifey! Jennifer Garner may have adorably helped her husband Ben Affleck complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge last month, but he took his wife — and her cell phone —down in the process.

As witnessed in Affleck’s video last month, Garner helped dump freezing ice water over her husband’s head — and then he grabbed her and they both fell into an adjacent pool fully clothed.

“If you drop your phone, or if your husband tosses you in the pool on the ALS Challenge,” Garner, 42, told Access Hollywood on Sunday, Sept. 7, “and you weren’t expecting it, and your phone was in your back pocket and it got killed… you have to go a day without your phone!”

Garner, who was at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival this past weekend to promote her new movie Men, Women and Children, said she was upset at first about her husband’s sneak attack. “I had a day without my phone, and at first, it was, ‘Ben, you could have told me, so I could have taken it out of my pocket,'” she recalled.

Still, Garner said there was an upside to being without a phone. “But it was so liberating not to have it and not to check it, and just be like, ‘Well, people will have to call me [at home] if they need me!'”

In her new movie, the 13 Going On 30 actress plays a strict mom who tries to curb her teenage daughter’s Internet usage and phone consumption. In real life, Garner says she’s just as strict about parenting her three kids, Violet, 8, Seraphina, 5, and Samuel, 2, and told Entertainment Tonight Canada that her little ones will not be owning cell phones “for a long time.”

Garner explained, “They don’t need it. Until I really feel the need, that’s where I’m strict. But I don’t know — I still have an 8-year-old, so I just know that I’m a long way from feeling like that’s something we need in our lives.”

The same goes with computers. “I don’t let my kids on a computer without me right there,” Garner told ET Canada. “You have to be on top of it because it would take so little for them to see something that could be an image that sticks in their head they don’t want to see.”

Both mom and dad are on board when it comes to controlling their phone and Internet usage at home. “We police each other, we police ourselves,” Garner revealed. “We just try to have guidelines and say ‘okay, we gotta… we have to… put it down, and let’s figure that out together,’ and we’re on the same page about it.” See cute pics of their kids.
