Please, it made her stronger! Kelly Clarkson opened up to Nick Grimshaw on BBC’s Radio 1 Breakfast Show Tuesday, Jan. 12, about her “horrible” first pregnancy with her daughter River Rose. Still, the pop star said it hasn’t deterred her from wanting more babies.
The first-time mom, 32, told Grimshaw that she experienced “such a horrible pregnancy” while expecting her first child, now 7 months old.
“I was hospitalized,” she revealed Tuesday. “It was just kind of a bad pregnancy, so I had to take off way more time than normal.”
Nevertheless, the joy of motherhood far outweighs that experience. “I love it. I love it,” Clarkson gushed about being a mom. “She’s pretty awesome,” she proudly noted about River. “And my husband [Brandon Blackstock] is running from me because I want another one.”
Blackstock, though, has some buffer time to prepare. “I want another one in like, a year,” the singer said.
Clarkson also revealed to Grimshaw that little River is quite a music fan, and it could be because her mom was focused on making her upcoming album Piece by Piece while the tot was in her womb. Clarkson also revealed to Elvis Duran on Tuesday that River’s heartbeat — “from when she was in my tummy!” — is featured in her single, “Heartbeat Song.”
Luckily, the little one takes after her mother. “She’s so weird, she loves loud music to go to sleep to,” Clarkson said. “She’s the perfect tour baby. She goes to rehearsals, and when we all start playing, she goes to sleep. And when we stop, she starts crying.”
Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece by Piece, will be released in March. “I’m really stoked for everyone to hear it,” she teased Tuesday. “It’s a bit of an evolution.”
