Harpsichord Cumberbatch? Benedict Cumberbatch appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, Jan. 14, following his Golden Globes photobomb and the announcement that he and his fiancee Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.
Prior to discussing little Baby Batch, DeGeneres brought up the Imitation Game star’s rabid female followers, who lovingly dubbed themselves the “Cumberbitches” — a name the British actor, 38, has admitted to hating.
“I went, ‘Ladies this is wonderful, I’m very flattered, but has this not set feminism back a little bit? Empower yourselves if you’re going to get silly about a guy with a little more high regard, self-regard,’” he said. “They wrote back and said, ‘We didn’t mean any harm to feminism. We were just having a little bit of fun with your name.’”
Next it was DeGeneres’ turn to have some fun with the Sherlock actor’s name, offering up her suggestions for a potential baby moniker, including “Harpsichord.”
